CCM Trains Coastal Planners on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in Coastal Areas of Ghana

The short course on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in Coastal Areas of Ghana is one of four courses organized by CCM at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) as part of tthe USAID/UCC Fisheries and Coastal Management Capacity Building Support Project's commitment to operationalise the Centre. The 5-day workshop admitted sixteen (16) participants this year. All participants were drawn from municipal/district assemblies in the Volta region of Ghana.

The course gave a broad perspective of climate change, the impact of human activities on the global phenomenon, and adaptation options for the vulnerable coastal communities with special reference to the Ghanaian coast. The modules of the course discussed coastal ecosystems, explained the science of Climate Change and introduced participants to the related vulnerability assessment.
