Supplementary livelihoods: Beekeeping

Declining stocks of important fish species in Ghana is posing serious risk to millions of Ghanaians who depend on the sector. Many coastal dwellers will be faced with higher levels of poverty in the future if efforts are not made to revamp the fisheires sector. However, in the mean time, a diversified source of livelihood and income will lead to relatively resilient group that do not need to face the dire consequences of reduced fish stocks. CCM has set out to support the vulnerable coastal dwellers through a supplementary livelihoods project with funding fron United Nations Agency for International Development. In this video the Centre trains selected members a coastal community on a local technology for rearing bees for honey production.
