    Background of the dialogue

    To take the right actions, decision makers, fishing businesses and citizens must be provided with reliable and up-to-date information on the state and dynamics of our fisheries resources and their supporting systems.Such information including those on hydrography, nutrients, trophic interaction and biological rates, as well as fisheries production, socioeconomics and policy are collected, analysed and used by scientists scattered over different institutions and locations.

  • Axim Retreat: USAID/UCC Fisheries and Coastal Management Project

    The Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Sciences organized a three-day retreat (from 23rd – 25th October, 2015) at Axim to deliberate on second year workplan activities of the USAID/UCC Fisheries and Coastal Management Capacity Building Support Project which commenced in October, 2014.

  • CCM Launches Ghana's Information Management System on Aquatic and Coastal Resources

    The Centre for Coastal Management (CCM) under the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences of the University of Cape Coast has launched an online database project called Fisheries and Coastal Management Database of Ghana (FishCoM Ghana(link is external)) in Accra.

    The primary goal of FishCoM Ghana(link is external), which is Supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is to offer an efficient and easy access to data (both published and unpublished) to aid the management of Ghana's fisheries and coastal resources.

  • Call for short-term technical facilitation services under the USAID/UCC Fisheries and Coastal Management Capacity Building Support Project

    In support of the Government of Ghana’s (GoG) initiatives on food security, the United States Government (USG) through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is supporting a five-year capacity building program for fisheries and coastal management in Ghana. The project contributes to GoG’s overall grand fisheries and coastal development objectives and USAID’s Feed the Future (FtF) Initiative, the USG led global hunger and food security project designed to enhance economic growth in beneficiary countries.

  • USAID/UCC Fisheries Project Retreat at Prampram to Plan Year 4 Activities
    A three-day work planning workshop was held by the USAID/UCC Fisheries and Coastal Management Capacity Building Support Project last week, from 25 to 27 July 2017, to set project activities for the fourth year of its implementation as well as map out strategies for their execution.
