    THERMAL DRONE SURVEY OF WILDLIFE IN AVU LAGOON COMMUNITY PROTECTED AREA

    To enhance conservation efforts at the Avu lagoon landscape in the Volta region of Ghana, the Centre Coastal Management, University of Cape Coast conducted a thermal drone survey at the Avu lagoon catchment area. This survey aimed to monitor, track, and protect wildlife and their habitats to inform decision-making.

    The utilization of thermal imaging technology allowed for the identification of animals based on their heat signatures, enabling observations in darkness and dense vegetation without causing disturbance to the animals in their natural environment.

    litter training programme for the West African Region with funding from the United Kingdom’s
    Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP). The Marine Litter Training Programme, made
    up of three short courses, i.e. (a) Marine Litter Monitoring and Assessment, (b) Social and
    Behavioural Research in the Context of Marine Litter and (c) Marine Litter Management - policy
    and interventions is geared towards building expertise in marine litter research to fill critical

    The Erasmus Mundus scholarships at the Joint Master Programme in Marine Biotechnology has been launched, with a deadline for receiving applications as  15th February, 2023. 

     

    The master's degree lasts two years (120 ECTS) with 4 possible specialisation itineraries, the language of instruction is English, and the teaching staff is made up of professors and professionals from different fields.
