The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), in partnership with the Centre for Coastal Management at the University of Cape Coast and supported by the Global Ocean Accounts Partnership (GOAP) Secretariat, has inaugurated Ghana’s first Ocean Accounts Technical Working Group to lead the development of the country’s first Ocean Economy Satellite Account (OESA).

The Centre for Coastal Management, Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (CCM-ACECoR) at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) has hosted a PhD candidate under the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme, in July, 2026. The student, Commander Ayo Olusola Pacheco, is a Nigerian Navy officer and second-year PhD candidate in Maritime Affairs at the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden.
More than 300 fisherfolk from Ghana's marine artisanal fisheries sector have been trained on the Fisheries and Aquaculture Act, 2025 (Act 1146), through ten workshops held across the country's four coastal regions. The organization and delivery of the workshops were led by the Centre for Coastal Management – Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (CCM-ACECoR) at the University of Cape Coast, with funding support from Blue Ventures.
Environmental monitoring efforts along Ghana's coastal and riverine systems have been strengthened through the installation of trail cameras at key locations in the Western and Volta regions.
