The Project for Development of Integrated Sediment And Environmental Management Towards Sustainable Conservation, Disaster Risk Reduction, And Livelihood Improvements in Coastal Areas (SATREPS)

Project Description

The SATREPS project aims to enhance sustainable coastal management in Ghana through integrated sediment and environmental management. It will develop a data integration and analysis system to support coastal protection, disaster risk reduction, and livelihood improvement. The project is thus divided into 5 working groups (WG):

Satreps-Working Groups

By combining scientific research, technology, and community engagement, the project seeks to build resilience against coastal erosion, flooding, and ecosystem degradation. It will also promote gender equality, empower women through capacity-building initiatives, and strengthen national capacity for data-driven coastal governance.

Key partners include the University of Tokyo, ICHARM, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Yokohama National University, Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd., and the Infrastructure Development Institute, who will be working together in the different working groups as shown below.
