Professor Rashid Sumaila, a member of the International Advisory Board of the Centre for Coastal Management – Africa Centre of Excellence in Coastal Resilience (CCM-ACECoR), has paid a working visit to the Centre to provide support to  the State of Fisheries and Aquaculture in West Africa Project, funded by the World Bank.


As a globally recognised authority in fisheries science, aquaculture, and environmental economics, Prof. Sumaila’s visit is timely and highly strategic. His visit provides critical guidance toward strengthening the analytical depth, policy relevance, and overall quality of the final project reports. Drawing on decades of international research experience and his extensive authorship of high-level scientific and policy reports, his insights are instrumental in refining key findings, ensuring methodological rigour, and enhancing the credibility of the project’s outputs.


The Centre welcomes Prof. Sumaila’s continuous involvement and invaluable counsel, which reinforces CCM-ACECoR’s commitment to excellence, evidence-based research, and impactful policy engagement. His visit marks an important milestone as the project moves toward completion and positions its outputs to make a lasting contribution to fisheries governance and sustainable development in West Africa.
