The African Union – Inter African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) has appointed Dr. Isaac Okyere as a member of the African Fisheries Reform Mechanism (AFRM) working group, a group of experts drawn from AU member states to work in addressing the numerous challenges facing Africa’s fisheries sector, cutting across small scale fisheries, aquaculture, trade, policy, governance, and institutional strengthening. Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, Chief of the Ghana Naval Staff paid a courtesy call to the Director of the Centre for Coastal Management - ACECoR to discuss Areas for mutual cooperation in maritime research involving research fellows/students among others, the development of short courses in fisheries observer programs, maritime safety, and the impacts of distant water fleets.
